In the fall, we will be presenting Bad Auditions By Bad Actors, a comedic play written by Ian McWethy. It tells the story of Carol Danes, a young woman, who- for her directing debut- must pull together a production of Romeo and Juliet to save her beloved community theater from ruin. She is given the difficult task of casting the roles of Romeo and Juliet by her eccentric boss and creative director of the Red Barn Theater, Avery Stern, with the help of his teenage nephew, Roger, who has been forced into helping amid a drug-scandal in him home. As the different actors audition, Carol realizes that she might be in a little over her head, as each auditionee presents an individually silly quirk. This hilarious comedy takes you on the journey of these auditions, with a man who can’t control his rage, a man who thinks he’s a cat, a girl who just can’t keep control of her arms, and much, much more. The Strawberry Hill Players are proud to present: Bad Auditions By Bad Actors.
Starting in October, the Strawberry Hill Improv Players (SHIP) will put on several performances every couple months in our small auditorium. These shows never fail to make the crowd laugh non-stop, starring a variety of performers in all grades.
A Knight Of Cabaret, our biggest club fundraiser of the year will be at the end of December. Featuring current students, alumni, and local talent, this performance is one of the most entertaining. It’s definitely one not to miss.
Then in January, the senior players will have the unique opportunity to try directing in our 20th annual production of Senior Scenes. This show gives underclassman actors a chance to star and seniors a chance to direct.
Finishing another year off strong, our spring musical will be Curtains. It’s the brassy, bright, and promising year of 1959. Boston’s Colonial Theatre is host to the opening night performance of “Robbin’ Hood: A New Musical”. When the leading lady mysteriously dies on stage the entire cast & crew are suspects. Enter a local detective, who just happens to be a musical theatre fan! Packed with glorious tunes and a witty, charming script filled with delightful characters, CURTAINS is a hilarious journey for both performers and the audience. The Broadway production garnered 8 nominations at the 2007 Tony Awards® including Best Musical.
Thank you! We can’t wait to see you there!
